First it was Solange Knowles, then Jamie Lynn Spears, and now it's Bristol Palin. First they get pregnant, then the families rush them into teenage marriages. But take a look at what happened to Solange Knowles. She's a twenty-two year old divorcee. That's how most teenage marriages end.
And I understand people being anti-abortion, that is their right. Just like it is my right to be pro-abortion for other people. I would never have an abortion, but I shouldn't force my beliefs on other women's bodies. But I don't understand abstinence only education. Bristol Palin is proof that abstinence only education doesn't work. Her family can afford the baby, but what about all those girls who come from families who can't. Wouldn't it be better if they knew how not to get pregnant.
And I think that the announcement of Bristol's pregnancy smack in the middle of Hurricane Gustav reminds me of John Edwards' announcement about his affair during the Olympics' opening ceremony. Did they think that nobody would notice?
