Plain Mary

I'm always railing against Petit Tresor as everyone knows, and how every celebrity is always buying Plain Mary Kensington play mats. So I went to the Plain Mary website and had a gander. The PM Divine collection is cute, of course I am biased toward traditional things. Everything seems a little overpriced, $190 for something with about $10 worth of materials. But if you are not crafty the $180 worth of labor and marketing may be worth it. You can even buy a whole Kensington bedding set for $1410.

If you want to buy something from Plain Mary buy it directly from the company. Skip supporting Petit Tresor's overcharging and blabbermouth ways.
Update: Plain Mary sent me an email about my remarks and here it is. I did say that the labor and marketing may be worth it.

They always say even bad press is good press but here at plain mary we take our products very seriously. Our play mat is so much more deserving than a “$10 worth of material jab” and certainly if it were that cheap we would be a much more profitable company, but instead I am still plugging my savings into a company I believe so strongly in. We do enjoy a nice celebrity following for which I am grateful for as a small business owner because it certainly gives us added exposure, however, people tend to focus on that too much and not enough on the great effort our designer has taken to design beautiful yet smart and safe products for babies . I would really love to send you a sample play mat and some information on the safety features that are embedded in the elegant design of our Kensington Baby Play Mat. It is the product that started our company and is still the best selling item we have today. Our products are not overpriced and I can honestly say they are underpriced given our cost and the rising prices of our raw materials which we have not passed on to our customers. Our play mats are manufactured in the U.S. (expensive but we believe it’s worth the quality control) and our designer hand finishes every single play mat that leaves our warehouse. I am confident if you could see our play mat in person you would see it in such a different light and I would love to hear your honest feedback as it helps shape the way we create our product education programs for retailers and customers alike.
