Tomorrow probably is the beginning of the end for Casey Anthony. The grand jury hearing, which should be secret, will start tomorrow.
George Anthony is expected to testify about the last time he saw Caylee. He was the last verified person, besides Casey, to see her alive on the afternoon of June 16th. Casey later showed up that night at her boyfriend's house without Caylee. Police believe that her mother murdered her sometime in those missing hours.
He will also be asked to testify how later on that month Casey would not allow him into the trunk of the car.
George and Cindy also gave DNA samples to police so that they can be excluded from providing genetic material in the trunk. Which brings us to Casey's brother Lee. Lee is refusing to give a DNA sample and to submit to a lie detector test. What is he trying to hide? I'm surprised that no one has suggested that he is the father of Caylee.
Cindy Anthony is blaming an upcoming local election on the rush to take the case to the grand jury. “I feel that a lot of what is going on right now is a political move on the state attorney’s office, Lawson Lamar,” Anthony said. “I feel that right now I think the reason these leaks are being let out, especially about the grand jury is because of the upcoming election.”
It is a reasonable theory, but I think the real reason is because the police were shocked into the action by Casey's request to secretly travel. I believe that otherwise that would have let the investigation run its course.
