I feel like I have to defend Sarah Palin, even though she is the very reason I wouldn't vote Republican. I think people are picking on her because she wasn't on top of her family 24/7. What mother realistically knows what her teenager is always doing. Teenagers are liars and sneaks. You could be the world's best stay at home mom, and your teenager is going to lie and sneak and do stuff you don't know about.
But her choice as VP nominee has turned me off the Republican party. I considered voting for McCain when I thought that Hillary was going to be the Democratic nominee. I didn't think that the office of President should be in the hands of just two families for over two decades. It seemed too much like monarchy to me. But if you want to drag Sarah Palin through the mud do it because of real issues, not tabloid issues. I don't have a problem with her hunting or being a member of the NRA. I don't have a problem with her husband's drunk driving arrest, it was just once or twenty-years ago and he seems to have learned his lesson. I don't have a problem with her teenage daughter being pregnant, been there, done that. But I could never vote for a woman who is anti-abortion even in cases of rape, but opposes all but abstinence based sex education (Look where that go her, her marriage involved a shotgun wedding too.) Then she cut funding for an Alaskan home for unwed mothers. (Not all girls are as lucky to have supportive families as Bristol Palin.)
On a lighter note. Hollywood baby store and gossip leaks extraordinaire, Petit Tresor has managed to insert itself into yet another celebrity pregnancy. It told media outlets that Jamie Lynn Spears sent Bristol Palin $60 worth of pink burp cloths. Nobody has said that Bristol's baby is a girl, so why wouldn't Jamie Lynn send neutral colors. But Petit Tresor's leaks often turn out wrong. And in my opinion they just make up a lot of their stories. This is the same store that Tom Cruise almost sued for lying about his purchases after all.
