After escaping from a prison in Florence, Colorado Edward Davidson killed his wife and 3 year old daughter, then killed himself. He just drove away from the prison on Sunday (where was prison security?). Also injured was a 14 year old girl, most likely his oldest daughter. A bullet grazed her in the neck. She was able to escape to a neighboring house, and has already been released from hospital. A 7 month old boy was found unharmed, strapped in his car seat. The murder-suicide was committed at the family's former home, which was sold last year.
Davidson was serving just 21 months in federal prison for fraud involving sending scores of spam messages about illegal penny stocks.
"What a nightmare, and such a coward," said U.S. Attorney Troy Eid. "Davidson imposed the death penalty on family members for his own crime."
I wonder if his wife knew about what he was planning. How could a mother let someone do this to her children if she did?
Davidson was only sentenced to 21 months in prison, isn't that like 10 months at most in real time. This is a completely senseless crime. He could have served his time and rebuilt a career. This didn't need to happen. There was no need to punish the children.
