The man accused of killing Megan Touma was a fellow soldier. Sergeant Edgar Patino has admitted to fathering Touma's unborn child despite being married to someone else. He admits to being in her hotel room the last day her room key was used. Patino also purchased a typewriter the day before letters blaming the Zodiac Killer were mailed.
"We feel there was significant evidence that Patino published those letters, mailed those letters to throw off the investigation," said police Sgt. Chris Corcione.
He is scheduled to appear in court later today.
This murder is one of several reported murders of servicewomen around North Carolina military bases.
