Every year Halloween gets a little more disappointing, and the reason why is because of the lack of trick or treaters. We have about ten pounds of candy left over. And this is after that I had my son's teacher announce that we would be giving out the good stuff, chocolates and Willy Wonka candy. One kid from his class showed up, and I gave him a whole handful of candy. We would have to wait ten minutes or more in between groups of trick or treaters. It makes me sad.

We also did the Day of the Dead. I hauled Grandpa out of the corner that Grandma keeps him. He has an alter with mini pumpkins (I hate marigolds) , beer, Beer Nuts (he used to bring them to me and my brother when we were little), and candles.
Grandma and I put Grandpa in the new urn ourselves after his old one sprang a leak. I refused to pay the funeral home to move him when it was their fault he was leaking out in the first place. When they nailed the cover on his wood urn, they nailed right through the plastic bag holding him. And then the nails started loosening and out he came. Did you know that they stick you into flimsy little bags after they cremate you? We put him in a couple of Ziploc bags and he hasn't leaked since. I bet that's a recommendation Ziploc thought they would never get.
