Octuplets Update 28 February

Octuplet mom Nadya Suleman rejected an offer by a nonprofit group that planned to provide round-the-clock nursing care to her 14 children, while allowing her entire family to live in a home together, an attorney for the group said Friday.

The offer by Angels in Waiting was made two weeks ago, and the group gave Suleman until Thursday to accept the proposal. The offer would have relied on public donations to help fund the infants' care.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents the group, said Suleman spoke with Angels in Waiting founder Linda West-Conforti and seemed to be more interested in "capitalizing on her infants" and doing a reality television show.

"Linda explained to her that Angels in Waiting would not agree to that because of their concern for possible infections that the infants might incur with camera equipment and many other people in the home in addition to the many professionals who would be with the children providing the care," Allred said. "Linda did not wish to risk the health of the little ones."

Questions have been continuing about Suleman's ability to care for the eight new children and the six she already had. Suleman is unmarried and unemployed.

She told talk-show host "Dr. Phil" McGraw this week that she feared Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center might not release her octuplets to her until she proves she can care for them.

Suleman, 33, and her six children had been staying with her mother at a Whittier home that is now in danger of foreclosure.

The octuplets -- six boys and two girls -- were born Jan. 26, nine and a half weeks premature. They are the nation's longest-surviving octuplets.

Hospital officials said Thursday the infants were doing well. All eight of the babies are breathing room air and no longer need intravenous supplemental nutrition.

"All eight of the babies are gaining weight and continue being fed donated pasteurized breast milk. The introduction of nipple (bottle) feeding is beginning slowly," according to a hospital statement.

Two things are quite clear at this point: Nadya Suleman has little or no grasp of reality, and she will be whoring those babies out as soon as she has them in her custody. I don't understand why the hospital is allowing in all the cameras into the neonatal intensive care. There are other people's sick babies in there I assume, and maybe they don't want them exposed to all the unnecessary germs.

The six older children need to be given over to the care of their grandmother, Angela. And the octuplets need to go into foster care until Nadya has some kind of realistic plan on how she is going to care for 14 children. Because turning down this deal shows that she is not really concerned about her kids well being.

Haleigh Cummings Update 27 February

In the silent 41-second video clip, Haleigh Cummings and her 4-year-old brother Junior are sitting on the floor by a Christmas tree this past Dec. 25.

The little girl smiles, laughs and talks to the off-camera photographer as she plays with a hat and unwraps gifts. Her light brown hair is pulled back in a ponytail.

Her blond younger brother opens presents in the background. At one point, a young woman comes into the frame to clean up crumpled paper.

The video was released after the reward for Haleigh's return was raised to $25,500.

Two anonymous pledges — one for $5,000 and another for $500 — were added to the $20,000 already offered by authorities for the girl's return or for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a perpetrator in her disappearance.

Haleigh vanished Feb. 9 from her father Ronald Cummings Jr.'s mobile home, where she lives with Cummings, 24, his 17-year-old girlfriend Misty Croslin and Junior.

Police are combing through 1,600 possible leads in the case, but so far have found no trace of the child.

Several of those questioned in the case have agreed to take polygraphs, including Cummings and Croslin — who claim to have "passed" the lie detector tests, though police refuse to confirm the results.

The family has been the subject of child welfare agency investigations in the past. The nature of those cases hasn't been disclosed because of state confidentiality laws.

Earlier this week, a Florida TV News Web site reported that Haleigh's little brother told police a man dressed all in black snuck into her room and snatched the girl from her bed.

Crystal Sheffield, the children's mother who lives in another town, said Haleigh's father and her son recounted the same story to her.

"He said something about somebody in black took her," Sheffield said, according to Central Florida News 13.

Putnam County detectives are leading the investigation with the help of the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Octuplet Update 27 February

Nadya Suleman's eight babies, who celebrate their one-month birthday Thursday, are slowly gaining weight and making steady gains with the development of their respiratory and digestive systems.

"The babies continue making small, incremental progress each day," says Mandhir Gupta, MD, neonatologist at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center.

The infants, all of whom are still in the hospital’s neonatal unit, are off respirators, breathing room air and drinking donated breast milk. "None of them have passed the four-pound mark," says Kaiser spokeswoman Socorro L. Serrano.

The birth weight of the heaviest was 3.25 lbs. and is now 3.61 lbs. The littlest baby, a boy who was 1.5 pounds at birth, is now 1.76 lbs.

Serrano adds that, despite the infants' relatively small weight gains, the octuplets are all healthy and have no physical complications. "It just takes time for them to gain weight," says Serrano. "It's like watching grass grow."

In an interview aired Wednesday on the Dr. Phil, Suleman said that the healthiest of her babies would be coming home "in a few weeks."

I have a question. Why is the hospital allowing photographers and camera crews to parade through the neonatal intensive care? The Suleman Octuplets can't be the only babies in there.

Vivid Entertainment offered Octo-Mom $1 million (with a health plan) to appear in a number of their porn movies for one year, but Nadya Suleman is just saying, "No," to a "skin flick" career.

"I think it's kind of funny that I got offered a million dollars to make porn," Suleman begins adding, "those guys at Vivid video must be nuts! Who wants to see me naked? Maybe in a year when the baby fat goes away." she jokes.

Still, Octo-Mom admits she'd never let Vivid get off that cheap. "Of course, if I have more kids I may have to ask for two million dollars."

Huh? More kids?!

Gathering back her modesty - and senses - Suleman stresses that she's not that kind of girl. "Seriously, though, my mum didn't bring me up like that. Besides, what will my 14 kids think when they grow up?"

And apparently she's a romantic at heart. "Despite what people think of my methods to get pregnant, I believe in love and romance. Not cheap thrills that belittle women."

Somebody should tell Nadya that her baby belly won't be going away without the help of a really good plastic surgeon.

Russell Simmons Stuck With $40K A Month In Child Support

For reality star Kimora Lee, it's Life in the Fab Lane, indeed.

The divorce between Lee, 33, and Russell Simmons, 51, has been finalized, with huge payouts for the model/fashion designer.

Simmons has agreed to pay child support for daughters, Ming, 9, and Aoki, 6, of $20,000 each per month until the girls turn 19, according to court papers filed Thursday in Los Angeles.

Lee also won sole legal and physical custody of the girls, with monitored visitation for Simmons.

"When the children are in [Simmons's] custody, they shall be accompanied at all times by a nanny and security person," the filing reads.

Simmons also agreed to provide a new car, worth at least $60,000, for the children's use, until they turn 16. The car will be replaced every three years, documents show.

The papers also outline a meticulous, seven-page agreement on Simmons's visitation rights, giving him access to the girls every eighth week during their school year and on various holidays.

The couple split in March 2006. Two years later, Lee said she's "kind of" engaged to boyfriend Djimon Hounsou.

"Both sides reached this settlement amicably, and are looking forward to moving on with their lives," Lee's attorney Daniel Jaffe told PEOPLE.

A lawyer for Simmons had no comment.

I can understand a new car every three years, but insisting that it cost at least $60,000 seems extra shallow (even by Kimora standards). But at least this frees Russell up to hang out on beaches with 20 year old models.

Eye Rolling...

...Usually Means Shut Up.

That's what the poster I made for my boyfriend says. He is the sweetest, most attentive boyfriend ever(One of my Valentine's Day gifts was my own bathroom in his house. Not a drawer, but a whole room.) until he starts talking about cars. Then he becomes completely unable to read body language. He once talked for over a half an hour about car parts without bothering to introduce me. I'm a hot rod widow.

And yes he is going to hang it. He says he's giving it a place of honour in his art room because I made it for him.

To make the poster I just took a 8x11 paper I printed at home to Kinkos and had it enlarged. A three feet wide poster is just $4.50. I found the directions here.

Caylee Anthony Update 27 February

Lee Anthony, brother of Casey Anthony's will be the center of attention Friday morning.

Casey Anthony is accused of murdering her 2 year old daughter Caylee who was reported missing last June, nearly a month after she was last seen. Her remains were found in December.

Anthony’s brother is scheduled for depositions in a civil defamation lawsuit filed by Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez. Gonzalez has filed a civil defamation suit against Casey Anthony who named her as the babysitter she left her daughter with before she disappeared.

Lee Anthony’s questions will be asked under oath at the offices of Morgan and Morgan, the law firm representing Gonzalez.

Earlier this month Gonzalez's attorney said although the media would not be formally invited into the depositions, they would not force media out if they showed up.

But Lee Anthony's attorney, Thomas Luka said his client will not answer questions with the media present.

"My first step is to ask plaintiff council to ask the media to leave the deposition room,” Luka said. “If plaintiff council refuses to do so, I will immediately file with him a copy of a protective order then file that with the Clerk of Courts and Judge Rodriguez.”

According to Luka, civil law procedure states that ‘no deposition shall be taken before persons that are financially interested in the action’. Luka claims because video and sound would be used in a news program, with commercial breaks, that technically the media has financial interest in what Lee Anthony has to say.

The deposition is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.

You have to give Lee Anthony's attorney credit for being creative. How many lawyers could have come up with that argument.

Octuplet Update 26 February

The hospital that is caring for the Suleman Octuplets may not release them to their mother, Nadya. Finally someone in this case is acting like they have some common sense. And porn company, Vivid Entertainment has offered Suleman a million dollars and a year of health insurance for all 14 children to make an x-rated video. I have a question though...are they going to pay for her tummy tuck. They woman just gave birth to eight babies, we all know she is going to need one. And I doubt that plastic surgeons will be offering her one like they did Kate Gosselin.

Suleman says hospital wants proof she can care for octuplets
She tells TV host 'Dr. Phil' McGraw she fears that they may not be released until she has a better living arrangement. She and her six other children live at her mother's house.
By Jessica Garrison and Kimi Yoshino
February 25, 2009
Nadya Suleman told TV host "Dr. Phil" McGraw on Tuesday that she fears Kaiser Permanente Medical Center may not release her octuplets to her until she proves she can care for them.

In an interview with The Times, McGraw said Suleman called him Tuesday afternoon, distressed after talking to Kaiser officials. Suleman has taped two episodes of McGraw's show, the first of which is scheduled to run today.

"What she is telling me is that unless and until she has a better living arrangement, that they are not likely to release the children to her," McGraw said.

Suleman, a single mother who already had six children before giving birth to octuplets Jan. 26, lives in Whittier with her mother in a three-bedroom house that is in pre-foreclosure. Suleman has no job and relies on government assistance, including food stamps and disability income for three of her six older children.

McGraw said she told him that hospital officials had some concerns about her "ability to care for the children." He did not have detailed information about their concerns or what standards she might not be meeting.

"I haven't talked to the hospital; I haven't talked to the caseworkers," he said.

Kaiser officials declined to comment on Suleman's case.

"Any conversations that the mother may or may not have had on this topic are private and we could not discuss them," Jim Anderson, director of media relations for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, said in a statement to The Times.

"In general, mothers with multiple births who have babies in the neonatal intensive care unit are given advice and counsel about what they need to have in place to care for the children when they are discharged. There is a multidisciplinary team that works with them in advance to offer advice and support."

The octuplets were born two months early, weighing 1 pound, 8 ounces to 3 pounds, 4 ounces each. They are all breathing on their own and in stable condition.

What physicians call late pre-term babies are those born after 34 to 36 weeks of gestation rather than the normal full term of 38 to 42 weeks. Typically, Kaiser does not discharge premature babies until they have reached at least 35 weeks of pre- and post-birth development, said Vicki Bermudez, a regulatory policy specialist with California Nurses Assn. and a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at the Kaiser hospital in Roseville.

When the infants reach 35 weeks of development, they are released once they can maintain their body temperature, eat regularly and without difficulty, and demonstrate continued growth. Often, the children weigh about 5 pounds when they are released, she said. The octuplets are at 34 weeks of development.

In all cases involving very premature babies, social workers are assigned to evaluate parents and to determine what services to which the children and family may be entitled, Bermudez said.

"If they feel there's a risk to a baby, they contact Child Protective Services and Child Protective Services would make a determination as to whether or not there's a reason for concern," Bermudez said.

The agency could place a protective hold on a baby while determining whether the home environment is safe. The children also can be placed in temporary foster care, she said.

McGraw, who has met and interviewed Suleman at length, said he too is concerned about her ability to handle 14 children on her own. "I don't think she has the money, the space, the transportation, the supplies, the manpower, I don't think she has any of that in place at this point," he said.

But he added that the foster care system, which is where children are sometimes placed in such situations, is not a good alternative either.

"What I have said from the beginning when I first addressed this story is that you can be upset with this mother . . . [but] you can't turn your back on the mother without turning your back on 14 innocent children," McGraw said. "They didn't ask for this."

The Southern California mother of octuplets is being offered $1 million to star in hardcore porn.

Vivid Entertainment spokeswoman Jackie Martin says the offer also promises a year of health insurance for Nadya Suleman and her 14 children.

Suleman gave birth to octuplets at a Bellflower hospital on Jan. 26, and already had six other children. The home the unemployed single-mother lives in is facing foreclosure.

Vivid says the offer was sent Tuesday via overnight mail and there has been no immediate response.

The offer letter says Suleman's video would be distributed under the Vivid-Celeb imprint, which has released videos starring Pamela Anderson and Kim Kardashian.

And am I the only one who loves Grandma Suleman's "Bitch please, you're crazy" look. And Oprah, she is more than a "little unstable."

Caylee Anthony Update 26 February

In an emergency hearing Wednesday afternoon on the defamation suit filed against Casey Anthony, a civil court judge decided to delay the depositions of George and Cindy Anthony.

The lawyer for the grandparents of slain 2-year-old Caylee Anthony told a civil court judge that his clients are too emotionally distressed to face questioning.

"George Anthony attempted suicide - that was less than a month ago that he was released from the hospital," said Brad Conway. "Cindy has had to deal with that."

An attorney for plaintiff Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez (pictured) said justice for his client cannot wait, but in the end, Judge Jose Rodriguez sided with the Anthonys.

"I don't think it's fair and it's appropriate to allow this to become a free-for-all," he said as he announced his ruling. Rodriguez will take 20 days to assess the Anthonys' medical conditions, and decide whether the media will be allowed to be present for the depositions, if they happen at all. There is a hearing scheduled for May to dismiss the case entirely.

Gonzalez filed the suit because she claims that Casey Anthony ruined her life when she said a nanny with the same name kidnapped little Caylee. The toddler's remains were found in December in a wooded area near the Anthony home, and investigators believe that nanny does not exist.

The Florida Bar has another inquiry open into Casey Anthony's defense attorney, Jose Baez.

A Bar spokeswoman couldn't disclose details about the inquiry, but said it pertains to Baez's relationship with his now former media-relations company.

Since fall, Baez's law firm referred news reporters to a spokesman named Todd Black with Press Corps Media.

Black never agreed to in-person interviews with reporters, would not provide his photograph and did not reveal his true identity.

Press Corps Media later confirmed that three people used the Todd Black name.

And recently, the company confirmed that one of the people who called himself Todd Black was Gil Cabot. Cabot was sentenced to five years in a California prison in 1990 after he was convicted of attempting to extort television journalist Jann Carl.

In October, The Florida Bar initiated an investigation into Baez after the State Attorney's Office faxed the Bar several news releases Black had sent to media outlets.

The Bar closed its file in January and found that no disciplinary proceedings against the Kissimmee lawyer were appropriate.

Two of those news releases criticized State Attorney Lawson Lamar.

Timothy Chinaris, an attorney representing Baez in that inquiry, told the Bar that Press Corps Media was retained by a Connecticut family.

Chinaris said his client had not paid and will not pay "any part" of Press Corps Media's fees or expenses.

Baez has since hired Marti Mackenzie as his new spokeswoman. In an e-mail statement, Mackenzie said this afternoon: "The circumstances of Mr. Baez's now severed association with Press Corps Media have not changed; as Timothy Chinaris, an ethics attorney representing Baez in the first Bar inquiry, told the Bar, Press Corps Media claimed that it was retained by a Connecticut family. We expect that the Bar will again close the file and find that no disciplinary proceedings are appropriate."

Real Housewife of Atlanta Sues For Custody Of Her Kids

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” housewife Lisa Wu Hartwell last Thursday filed for primary custody of her two sons with ex-husband and R&B singer Keith Sweat.

“The best interest of the minor children will be served by modifying the current custody and visitation provisions to make Mother the primary physical condition of the minor children,” according to the court papers filed with the Superior Court of Fulton County. “Since the time of the Divorce Decree, Mother has remarried, owns a successful business and will provide a stable, loving, and nurturing environment in which she can raise the minor children.”

She is seeking “primary physical custody and joint legal custody with final decision-making on all issues regarding the minor children.” She will “reasonably engage Father in good faith discussions before any final decisions are made concerning the children?s welfare.” The two children are Jordan Sweat, age 14, and Justin Sweat, age 11. (This translates to she wants to put the kids on the show. If I was a mom I wouldn't want my kids on the show. All the kids seem to be downwardly mobile. Just look at the first show. Just a couple of those kids are actually in college. )

If she does get custody, she requests child support as well.

In 2003, Sweat received primary custody of the children. According to the final divorce decree written by Fulton Superior Court judge Cynthia D. Wright, Sweat and Wu Hartwell married in 1992 and had the judge termed at the time an “extremely tumultuous relationship.” Wright wrote that “there is evidence that Father has been violent towards Mother, but no evidence he has ever been violent with any of his children.”

The judge felt the children at the time “lacked structure in their lives, due in substantial part to Mother’s numerous business ventures and frequent trips out of town (probably hunting for the next husband) … Mother has a history of spending money on herself excessively rather than providing for the children (gotta look good to catch a baller.) … There was some evidence at trial that Mother implicitly participated in robbing Father in the presence of the children (Couldn't she have waited until they were off in another room playing. How is she going to reprimand them if they pick up something at the grocery?). She also took money from Father prior to the initiation of this matter. This behavior causes the Court to question Mother’s maturity and judgment.”

Although Sweat, too, travels frequently, the decree said Sweat?s mom helped care for the children. “Father is capable of providing a stable, secure home environment for the boys where their care is not delegated to random third parties,” the judge wrote.

Wu Hartwell has had visitation rights and has said in past interviews she sees her sons frequently. Neither boy was shown on camera or even talked about on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” because Sweat would not give her legal permission to do so (He doesn't need to whore out his children to promote himself. So why would he allow someone else to do it). Sweat is never mentioned by name on the show.

Wu Hartwell is currently married to former NFL player Ed Hartwell (Who she really seems to love, at least on camera). They have a child, who we saw on the TV show, which began taping its second season Monday.

Carlos Scott, her publicist, said Wu Hartwell cannot speak on the subject while it’s in the court system. Wu Hartwell said nothing about the custody case on Saturday at her South Dekalb Mall appearance, though she did note that her ex-husband didn’t clear her sons to be on the show.

We are currently seeking comment from Sweat, who happens to be promoting his new Peachtree TV special airing this week reuniting the group Dru Hill. Sweat made no mention of the custody case Monday morning in an interview with Frank & Wanda on V-103.

Octuplet Update 25 February

I totally agree with Nadya Suleman's mother. If the Octuplet's mom didn't want to destroy the embryos she could have donated them to families that really could have used them. Nadya did not consider her six older children at all when she became pregnant.

And in what I say is a ploy to get donations the mother of 14 is saying that a neighbor threatened a photographer with a gun. And she no longer feels safe in the home, especially when she considers the eight babies coming home. Well she shouldn't have to worry about that much longer since the house is going into foreclosure. She will have to find another house to live in.

Caylee Anthony Update 25 February

Orange County's once most-famous meter reader, Roy Kronk, wants bounty hunter Leonard Padilla to hush up.

Kronk is tired of hearing the California cowboy-hat-wearin' and toothpick-chewin' Padilla drag his name into conspiracy theories about Caylee Marie Anthony --the 2-year-old whose remains were discovered in the woods near Suburban Drive by Kronk on Dec. 11.

Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in her daughter's death.

Kronk's attorney, David Evans, sent Padilla a letter last week to put the bounty hunter on notice: Be quiet or prepare for a potential legal fight.

"We are cataloging each and every false and defamatory statement you have made concerning Mr. Kronk and will be thoroughly reviewing your public statements," Evans wrote in the Feb. 20 letter.

"Even though your public statements are pure speculation, with absolutely no factual basis . . . they are taken by many who do not know better as being true," the lawyer wrote.

Orange County hired Evans to represent Kronk. Evans is earning $225 hourly -- about $100 less than his normal rate, according to the terms of his agreement with the county. The fee is capped at $10,000.

Padilla doesn't understand why his talk of Kronk is such a big deal.

It's no secret what he is doing, Padilla said.

He's simply looking into the circumstances of how Caylee's remains were found. He has spoken to some of Kronk's co-workers and relatives.

"Things just don't add up," he said about how Kronk discovered the remains.

Padilla is convinced the former meter reader was somehow tipped off.

It's possible, Padilla said, that Kronk may not know why the tip came to him.

"I'm continuing to get the bottom of it," Padilla said.

Orange County sheriff's officials have said Kronk was never a suspect and is not linked to the Anthony family.

Kronk, who came cross the remains while on the job, has transferred to an inventory-control job in a county warehouse.

Why is it Leonard Padilla's job to investigate how Roy Kronk found Caylee Anthony's body? The family isn't working with him and the police aren't working with him. So why won't he just go away.

former Orange County meter reader who found the remains of missing Caylee Marie Anthony has paid part of the $10,000 child support debt he owed his ex-wife.

Roy Kronk owed the money for his son who is now in his 20s; he stopped paying in his former wife several years ago. He recently paid her $5,000 to settle the debt, she told the Orlando Sentinel in an e-mail.

Kronk's attorney, who is was retained with county money, sent a brief e-mailed statement to the Sentinel confirming Kronk's $5,000 payment.

"I can confirm that Mr. Kronk has made a child support payment of $5,000," David Evans wrote. "I am not authorized to comment further at this time regarding the ongoing status of the child support situation, other than to say that Mr. Kronk is working through the Maryland child support process in an appropriate way."

Kronk found the remains of missing Caylee Marie Anthony on Dec. 11 and ended the five-month search. Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with the toddler's murder, and investigators think she killed the girl in middle to late June.

According to an article published today on the Southern Maryland Online news site, the state's Child Support Enforcement Administration collected the money from Kronk recently. The agency was able to find Kronk after he appeared on a national morning news show and reportedly paid thousands of dollars for a photo of a snake that he found near the remains.

Looks like he paid only because they tracked his butt down.

Haleigh Cummings Update 25 February

Crystal Sheffield, the children's mother, said Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings, Jr. and her son recounted the same story to her.

"When I see him [Haleigh's brother], all he said is, 'I want to find my sissy,' and he said something about somebody in black took her," Sheffield said, according to Central Florida News 13.

"He said they were all dressed in black, but I didn't question him. I'm not going to question him."

It was not immediately clear when or where Sheffield made this statement.

Haleigh apparently vanished Feb. 9 from her father's Satsuma-area trailer home where she lives with 24-year-old Cummings, his 17-year-old girlfriend Misty Croslin and Haleigh's little brother Junior, 4.

Police are combing through 1,600 possible leads in the disappearance, but so far have found no trace of her.

Authorities said they are ending their daily briefings on the missing girl.

"All information that can be presently disclosed has been reported," Capt. Dick Schauland said in a statement issued to reporters.

Schauland added that the investigation is still "proceeding at full force."

That news was met with a mixed reaction from Haleigh's grandmothers.

"It's hard, because we don't want anybody to forget Haleigh's out there," Teresa Neves, Haleigh's paternal grandmother, told the Palatka Daily News. "I'm sick as a dog and I come up here to watch the press conference and find out they're not having one. That to me is very hurtful that they don't let us know in advance."

Haleigh's maternal grandmother, however, was unfazed by the news.

"Maybe the sheriff's department has something and they're not releasing it," said Marie Griffis. "It doesn't discourage me one way or the other, because my faith and my God tells me he's bringing her back."

Griffis said she doesn't believe reports that her granddaughter is dead.

"Until the police bring me a body and lay it in front of me, I will not believe that she is gone," Griffis told the newspaper. "God tells me that she is alive and well, and that's what I am going to stand on."

The fish's tubular eyes are capped by bright green lenses. The eyes point upward (as shown here) when the fish is looking for food overhead. They point forward when the fish is feeding. The two spots above the fish's mouth are olfactory organs called nares, which are analogous to human nostrils.

Caylee Anthony Update 24 February

The lawyer for George and Cindy Anthony, grandparents of slain toddler Caylee Anthony, is promising a court fight to keep them from having to give sworn depositions Thursday.

The attorney representing Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez told WESH 2 he'd have some surprise questions for the Anthonys and invite reporters.

Fernandez-Gonzalez filed a civil suit over Casey Anthony's allegations that someone by the same exact name kidnapped her daughter Caylee. Gonzalez said her reputation has been severely damaged.

Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home in December. Casey Anthony is in the Orange County Jail on murder charges.

The Anthonys' lawyer said there is no way he would let them be part of some sort of circus.

If nothing happens, on Thursday George and Cindy Anthony are under subpoena to testify under oath about Fernandez-Gonzalez.

The Anthony's lawyer said attorney John Morgan's plan to depose the Anthonys in front of the press is ludicrous. He plans to ask a judge to at least postpone the depositions until the Anthonys are in better shape psychologically to answer more questions.

"They're both fragile emotionally and they need to recover but it'll take a little bit of time. I don't want them going in there without a clear head," attorney Brad Conway said.

Lee Anthony is scheduled to testify Friday. His lawyer said he does not plan to block the deposition because Lee knows nothing about Fernandez-Gonzalez and will say so.

Meanwhile, the man who found Caylee Anthony's remains wants a bounty hunter who searched for the missing toddler to be quiet.

Roy Kronk's attorney has sent Leonard Padilla a letter that demands he stop what Kronk considers personal attacks on various national platforms.

Kronk's attorney, David Evans, who also represents WESH-TV, said he's documenting every Padilla statement and will consider action against him.

Padilla responded to the letter by saying if Kronk wants a legal fight, he should "saddle up."

I just have two points: What do the Anthonys have to hide? And look, now the minor players in this drama are fighting among themselves. Maybe if somebody sues Leonard Padilla it will cause him to shut his mouth and come back to California.

Haleigh Cummings Update 23 February

"Me and my child have an agreement. Daddy, daughter. She has been spanked on her behind the way DCF (Florida Department of Children and Families) says that you can take care of disciplining your children," Cummings told FOX News' Geraldo Rivera.

Cummings also condemned new allegations that he hit Haleigh's mom Crystal while she was pregnant, saying friends and family members making the accusations are 'absolutely lying' and threatening criminal charges against them.

Responding to sources that told Rivera Cummings had told them he was 75 percent sure who kidnapped Haleigh, the missing girl's father said, "There is no way — I do not know who took Haleigh. If I had — if I had, uh, five percent of where Haleigh was at, I would be there now and not here."

The family of Haleigh Cummings, who apparently vanished while she was sleeping, says they are afraid she was taken by a pedophile cousin.

The 5-year-old's mother and paternal grandmother said Friday the man in question is a cousin of Misty Croslin, the teenage girlfriend of Ronald Cummings.

Police are questioning the cousin, who is from Tennessee and was visiting when Haleigh disappeared before dawn Feb. 10, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.

"What we've been told is that he's a sexual pedophile," said Haleigh's mother Crystal Sheffield. The child's grandmother, Teresa Neves, said Croslin described him as a "jerk" and she was worried.

"I couldn't tell you anything about him," a distraught Neves told reporters Friday, adding that she only knew of the cousin by his first name Joe. "I can't tell you how they could have taken her from a family that absolutely adores her."

The family's plea for the child's return came as news emerged about a tip from Tennessee called in by a woman claiming to have seen a man in a restaurant with a little girl resembling Haleigh, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.

The tipster, who reportedly phoned Knoxville detectives Sunday, said the man she saw was in a red Toyota RAV4 and appeared to be trying to shield the little girl with him.

Knoxville police said they didn't locate the car but turned the information over to Florida authorities on the case, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.

Putnam County investigators said they impounded a car in the case, but they wouldn't give a description of the vehicle, the station reported.

Sheffield told FOX News on Saturday that Ronald Cummings had been abusive to her when she first got pregnant.

"He punched me in the back of the head and before then, he was verbal," she said. "I mean he was just very abusive."

Sheffield also said she was told by her cousin of an incident where Cummings apparently hit Haleigh after the child bumped into him or smarted off to him.

"She said he just backhanded her. And she fell flat on her face on the porch," Sheffield said.

On Thursday a sexual predator was arrested near the trailer home where Haleigh lives with 24-year-old Cummings, 17-year-old Croslin and Haleigh's little brother Junior.

Police said Timothy R. Loucakis was brought in on charges unrelated to the missing child.

"Word is getting out that we have a sexual predator in custody, and we do, but we have no reason to link it to Haleigh," said Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy. He said Loucakis missed his curfew, but GPS tracking showed him "within his home zone" — and not near Haleigh — when she reportedly vanished.

Detectives are still "not excluding anybody" as a suspect in the girl's disappearance, Hardy said.

Loucakis was convicted of "promoting a sexual performance by a child" in May of 2001 and is currently listed as a sexual predator, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Web site.

"What we're concerned about was he wasn't where he was supposed to be," Hardy said.

On Friday, police announced that the reward for information leading to Haleigh had risen to $20,000 but they offered no other details of their progress in solving the mystery.

Authorities have been investigating a tip that casts doubt on a story told by Croslin that she was home when she discovered the child missing. The source said she wasn't in the trailer when Haleigh vanished last Tuesday. Investigators say they're looking into the report.

They're also studying inconsistencies in descriptions of what the girl was last seen wearing. Croslin told them Haleigh had a pink shirt on the night she vanished, but police said this week they have that item of clothing in their possession.

The girlfriend has also reportedly told different stories to cops and the media about the timing of her discovery that Haleigh was gone and where she and the child were that night.

Cummings and Croslin have both taken lie detector tests. They told FOX News they "passed" the polygraphs. Police haven't released the results.

The family has been at the center of investigations done by the state child welfare agency, but details of those cases haven't been disclosed because of confidentiality laws.

Neves said her son would never hurt Haleigh and pleaded Friday for her granddaughter's kidnapper to bring her home.

"I want to say to my baby, we love you sweetheart, and we will find you," she said through tears.

The poor child hasn't been missing a month and the family is already turning on each other. This is a time when you would expect them to support one another. But if they weren't bad mouthing each other there would be little interest in Haleigh's disappearance. Remember that before they started talking crap about one another the police were scaling back the search for their daughter.

11 Year Old Shoots Dad's Pregnant Girlfriend

Fifth-grader Jordan Brown boarded the bus and headed to school like he did most other mornings in this rural western Pennsylvania community.

But before he left home on Friday, authorities say, the 11-year-old boy had shot his father's pregnant fiancee in the back of the head as she lay in bed. He then put his youth model 20-gauge shotgun back in his room before going out to catch his bus, police say.

Brown was charged Saturday as an adult in the death of 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk, who was eight months pregnant, Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo said. Houk's fetus died within minutes due to a lack of oxygen, Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga said.

Houk's family and friends, who gathered at her parents' house Saturday night, told The Associated Press that there had been past problems with the boy.

"He actually told my son that he wanted to do that to her," said Houk's brother-in-law, Jason Kraner. "There was an issue with jealousy."

Pennsylvania State Police found Houk's body in the rented farmhouse after her 4-year-old daughter told tree cutters on the property she thought her mother was dead, Bongivengo said.

The boy told police there was a black truck on the property that morning — possibly the man who feeds the cows — sending investigators to follow a false lead for about five hours, Bongivengo said. Inconsistencies in Brown's description of the truck led police to re-interview Houk's 7-year-old daughter, who implicated the boy in the killing, Bongivengo said. State troopers went to get the boy at school.

"She didn't actually eyewitness the shooting. She saw him with what she believed to be a shotgun and heard a loud bang," Bongivengo said. The gun was found in a "location we believe to be in the defendant's bedroom."

Brown was arraigned and was being held in the Lawrence County Jail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday.

"An 11-year-old kid — what would give him the motive to shoot someone?" said Houk's father, Jack Houk. "Maybe he was just jealous of my daughter and the baby and thought he would be overpowered."

Defense attorney Dennis Elisco said he plans to ask Monday for the boy to be released on bail and for the case to moved to juvenile court. Elisco and police said they had no clear motive for the shooting.

Elisco said he is waiting to see physical evidence that ties his young client to the killing.

"I don't think he knows what's going on," he said. "I walked out of there thinking he was innocent. I believe Jordan did not do this."

The boy's father, Christopher Brown, is "a mess" and had no indication his son had a problem with Houk, Elisco said.

"He's in a state of actual shock and disbelief," he said.

The shotgun used is designed for children and has a shorter arm and such weapons do not have to be registered, Bongivengo said. Jack Houk, 57, said the boy and his father used to practice shooting behind their farmhouse, and the two enjoyed going hunting together.

Wampum is about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Who allows an 11 year old to keep a shotgun in their room? I understand that some people enjoy shooting and hunting, and take their kids along. But wouldn't common sense tell you to supervise the child and/or gun at all times.

Caylee Anthony Update 23 February

Casey Anthony doubled over and began to hyperventilate when Orange County Jail officials told her in December that the remains of a small child were found just a short walk from her parents' home.

Orange County sheriff's officials made sure her reaction was caught on video and instructed jail corrections officers to closely monitor her reaction, a source told the Orlando Sentinel on Friday.

At that time, no one knew whose bones an Orange County meter reader had stumbled upon near Suburban Drive on Dec.11. Orange County's medical examiner confirmed Dec.19 that the remains were those of 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony.

Casey Anthony has been held without bail at the Orange County Jail since her indictment in October on a first-degree murder charge in the death of her daughter. She has pleaded not guilty.

When she learned about the discovery Dec.11, Anthony began rocking back and forth and was visibly upset, according to the source.

The video of her reaction was later reviewed. Statements were taken from the Orange County Jail corrections officers who told Anthony of the discovery, according to documents released earlier this week from the State Attorney's Office.

Marti Mackenzie, a spokeswoman for Anthony's attorney, José Baez, e-mailed a statement to the Sentinel on Friday denouncing what happened.

"It is outrageous and cruel that they were standing by to record her emotions," Mackenzie said. "Let's call this the latest in a 'tape and release' strategy that the Sheriff's Office seems to have used since Casey was first arrested. Even if it's not their primary motive, the release of this kind of information has to have an influence on viewers and readers. Just look at the blogs."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office refused to release a copy of the videotape to the Sentinel, saying it was evidence in an ongoing criminal investigation, said Deputy Carlos Padilla, a sheriff's spokesman. If the tape is turned over to the State Attorney's Office as part of the prosecution's case, it could then become a public record.

Jail officials would not comment about the video or confirm its existence.

"As we have consistently stated, we do not report reaction or demeanor of any inmate in our custody," Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore said in an e-mailed statement. "Further, Orange County Corrections will not reveal any information about law enforcement investigations or requests.

Octuplet Update 23 February

The possible baby daddy of the octuplets has come forward. And he will be making his appearance on Good Morning America today. We all know why he is coming forward...there may be a buck to be made. The man who claims to have dated Nadya Suleman from 1997-1999 wants a paternity test. And if she is going to collect welfare payments the State of California will try and make her establish paternity for the child, it's the policy in the state. So she may have no way out of the test.

Suleman's representative, Victor Munoz, tells PEOPLE, that the man interviewed by ABC is not the sperm donor who fathered the babies. "The real sperm donor knows who he is. This guy is definitely not the one," says Munoz. "It's kind of comical. Nadya's not sure why he's doing this."

She should have thought of this before she had six embryos implanted.

It's still my opinion that somebody reported that Cummings had a 17 year old live in girlfriend, and that was the reason for the child welfare investigation.
