Caylee Anthony Post 11 February

Hundreds of friends, family members and strangers gathered at a memorial service for slain toddler Caylee Anthony at the First Baptist Church of Orlando on Tuesday morning (The crowds were much smaller than expected.).

Those attending faced tight security at the request of George and Cindy Anthony, who, throughout the search for their granddaughter, endured rowdy protesters outside their East Orange County home.

No cell phones, cameras or bags will be allowed in the church, and some people will be kept out, such as bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, who once worked with the Anthony family. (Padilla wouldn't let the day pass without a chance to grab the limelight. He held his own memorial service at the crime scene. When will this man realize that his 15 minutes are up , his connection to the case is over, and fade quietly into the background.)

The investigation into Caylee’s death has centered on her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, who sat in jail as her daughter was honored at a memorial service.

Casey Anthony is awaiting her first-degree murder trial in connection with Caylee's death.

Up until Tuesday morning, Casey Anthony had not requested to watch her daughter’s service on television -- something that is within the Orange County Jail's policies.

At 9:39 a.m. however, Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, visited his client in the female detention center in an attorney interview room. Although the room did not have a TV, Baez did have a laptop with him and it is possible and allowed that he and Casey Anthony could have been watching the service via air card. (That way Casey would be able to watch the service without throngs of other people watching her.)

Family members, including Caylee's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, spoke during the service, which opened with a piano medley of Caylee's favorite songs.

George Anthony reflected on fun times with his granddaughter, talking about eating popcorn with her and watching DVDs.

Grandmother Cindy Anthony talked about tucking Caylee in and looking at the stars with her.

Lee Anthony also spoke about his niece.

A video montage entitled "Gone Too Soon" showed pictures of Caylee throughout her life. The toddler was shown with an Easter basket and taking a bath.

A teary Cindy Anthony sang along with Pastor Herkie Walls to "O How He Loves You and Me." She said she would not have been able to endure the pain and suffering she has over the past seven months if it weren't for her faith.

She also addressed Casey Anthony directly, saying she hoped she could hear her and telling her she loves her and wished she could take away the pain she is feeling. (This wasn't really the place for messages of support for Casey. Even if Casey didn't kill Caylee she contributed to her death by not immediately reporting her missing. )

The service ended with a message and prayer from Pastor David Uth, who said he would be spending some private time with the Anthonys after the church had emptied.

Others Remember Lost Children

Many parents at Tuesday's memorial said they know exactly what grandparents George and Cindy Anthony are going through.

"I lost a child she was 5 months old. I know what they are going through. I have been following this since day one and it's broken my heart," Judi Aponte said.

"I lost my only child on the 15th. Iraq took my son from me. The pain never goes away. It never gets easier when you lose a child. I know what the Anthonys are going through," Deborah Smith said.

The father of Trenton Duckett who went missing back in 2006 also showed up.

"Our little group we have bad times and that's what helps them get them through what we get through," Joshua Duckett said.

A lot of parents said that not only will they be thinking about Caylee Anthony, but they are also going to bring back those memories of their own children.
