Caylee Anthony & Haleigh Cummings Updates 18 February

New information has emerged in the Caylee Anthony murder case. The state has released more than 1,100 pages of evidence to Casey Anthony's defense team.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the evidence includes FBI test results on duct tape found on Caylee's skull. All evidence will be released to the public later this week but attorney's close to the investigation say this may force Casey Anthony's defense attorney to consider a plea bargain.

Last week on Nancy Grace, bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, who has been involved in the case since the beginning, said his law enforcement source said Casey Anthony's fingerprints were found on the duct tape that was wrapped around Caylee's skull. This is the same duct tape adorned with a red heart shaped sticker over Caylee's mouth.

Caylee was 2 when she was reported missing in July. Her remains were found in December. Casey Anthony's trial is scheduled for next month.

Why would anyone believe anything that comes out Leonard Padilla's mouth. I really doubt that the police are telling him anything at this point. That man's mouth runs from dawn to dusk.

Investigators vowed to find missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings at an afternoon news conference, and said they are now taking a more "tactical" approach to their search.

About 60 officers searched today for the missing Putnam County girl, Sheriff Jeff Hardy stated at the televised conference.

Investigators have identified another area they want to search, and plan to canvass that spot within the next day or so, he said.

"We've not abandoned this search," Hardy said.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent-in-Charge Dominick Pape said investigators are taking "a more tactical approach, if you would."

"We will continue searching until she is recovered," he said.

He said sexual predator wanted in Marion County is not considered a person of interest "today."

Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, who was convicted in Putnam County in 2003 of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim younger than 12 years old, has not been seen since he left his mother's Ocklawaha home for a Super Bowl party on Feb. 1.

He called a friend early Feb. 2 to say the car he borrowed from her had broken down near the Wal-Mart in Summerfield. She later found the car of U.S. Highway 441 but he was gone, said Marion County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jenifer Fischer. He also called another friend but the call was disconnected as soon as the friend answered.

Marion officials alerted Putnam County investigators about Reynolds after Haleigh disappeared. At this point, authorities don't believe the two are connected, Fisher said.

2:23 p.m. A Web site is reporting that the father of a missing Putnam County girl is begging a search group to continue looking for his daughter.

Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch wrapped up his search for Haleigh Cumming, 5, on Sunday, wesh.com is reporting.

10:30 a.m. Texas EquuSearch, the volunteer group that helped search for missing Haleigh Cummings over the weekend, should be wrapping up about noon today.

Putnam County sheriff's Lt. Johnny Greenwood said this morning that EquuSearch volunteers have searched all of the wooded areas near Haleigh's residence. Many of those spots have been scoured two or three times.

Today, sheriff's investigators are focusing on a "few areas of interest" from some of the tips they've received, Greenwood said.

Greenwood couldn't say what type of locations or how many investigators would be searching today.

The Sheriff's Office may hold another press conference late this afternoon, but Greenwood said it likely will just be a routine update on the case.

7 a.m. Volunteers are not joining Putnam County deputies this morning in the search efforts for the missing 5-year-old girl.

More than 200 volunteers, including many from Texas EquuSearch, helped sheriff's deputies search the Satsuma area for Haleigh Cummings since Friday.

EquuSearch volunteers spent several months in 2008 searching for missing Caylee Marie Anthony. The toddler's remains were found in December, a short distance from her home. Her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in her death.

Little Haleigh deserves to found just as much as Caylee did. I feel bad for the family. They probably watched all the attention lavished on Caylee's case, and the volunteers and police have basically given up the search for their little girl after a week.
