Haleigh Cummings Update 27 February

In the silent 41-second video clip, Haleigh Cummings and her 4-year-old brother Junior are sitting on the floor by a Christmas tree this past Dec. 25.

The little girl smiles, laughs and talks to the off-camera photographer as she plays with a hat and unwraps gifts. Her light brown hair is pulled back in a ponytail.

Her blond younger brother opens presents in the background. At one point, a young woman comes into the frame to clean up crumpled paper.

The video was released after the reward for Haleigh's return was raised to $25,500.

Two anonymous pledges — one for $5,000 and another for $500 — were added to the $20,000 already offered by authorities for the girl's return or for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a perpetrator in her disappearance.

Haleigh vanished Feb. 9 from her father Ronald Cummings Jr.'s mobile home, where she lives with Cummings, 24, his 17-year-old girlfriend Misty Croslin and Junior.

Police are combing through 1,600 possible leads in the case, but so far have found no trace of the child.

Several of those questioned in the case have agreed to take polygraphs, including Cummings and Croslin — who claim to have "passed" the lie detector tests, though police refuse to confirm the results.

The family has been the subject of child welfare agency investigations in the past. The nature of those cases hasn't been disclosed because of state confidentiality laws.

Earlier this week, a Florida TV News Web site reported that Haleigh's little brother told police a man dressed all in black snuck into her room and snatched the girl from her bed.

Crystal Sheffield, the children's mother who lives in another town, said Haleigh's father and her son recounted the same story to her.

"He said something about somebody in black took her," Sheffield said, according to Central Florida News 13.

Putnam County detectives are leading the investigation with the help of the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
