He said: “We’re friends – that’s it.
“I have a lot of respect for her. She’s very committed to making the world a better place.
“She’s had an amazing career.”
A-Rod also vehemently denied claims he’s been keeping Madonna company on the US leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour.
The sports star admitted he’s had to develop “a sense of humour when it comes to this stuff” and laughs off reports he’s an ever-present fan at her concerts, insisting he’s only “been to two” of the pop queen’s shows.
Though they were both spotted in Mexico City at the weekend, A-Rod said his sole purpose for his visit was to run a baseball clinic for children.
He also hit back at reports he’s had a series of blazing rows with ex-wife CYNTHIA – who he divorced in September.
He told People: “I have a wonderful relationship with Cynthia,” adding the split couple “try to be the best parents we can” to kids Natasha, four, and Ella, seven months.
