The family of Sheri Coleman is planning to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Chris Coleman, a family spokesman said today.
Enrico J. Mirabelli, a lawyer and Sheri Coleman's cousin, said the family is working with Belleville lawyer Jack Carey to take legal action to prevent Chris Coleman from having access to various property associated with his marriage to Sheri Coleman.
"The purpose and goal is to ensure there is no ill-gotten gain from the murder of Sheri, Garett and Gavin," Mirabelli said.
Mirabelli wouldn't say when the civil suit would be filed.
Sheri Coleman, 31, and sons Garett, 11, and Gavin 9, were found strangled in their bedrooms at home in Columbia on May 5. Chris Coleman, the surviving husband, was arrested by police for their murder on Tuesday night. He has pleaded not guilty.
Police allege Coleman strangled all three and then staged the crime scene.
World renowned pathologist Michael Baden consulted with police on slayings.
Baden, a former New York City chief medical examiner, said today he was asked for consultation sometime last week. He wouldn't disclose his findings.
"I can't comment on any aspect of the case right now," Baden said.

Investigators learned of critical evidence Tuesday that led to the three charges of first-degree murder being filed, said Maj. Jeff Connor, commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. He would not specify whether it was new evidence or forensics information gleaned from previously gathered evidence.
Baden is an author and frequent television news guest. He is host of the HBO program “Autopsy,” and a Fox News contributor.
If you want to be famous don't try to be an actor, try to be a medical pathologists. You never hear of a starving pathologist.
