Otete & Anyo
I fell in love with these keepsake stamps from Kawamura Hideo the moment I saw them over at Notcot. You can choose between a custom, lifesized stamp of your baby's hand (Otete) or foot (Anyo). The stamps can be used for paper crafts or they can be kept as a keepsake. Each stamp is mounted on a black grip engraved with your child's name and birthdate, and stored in a paulownia box with a print of the little hand or foot. The stamps are priced at 8,800 Japanese Yen (or about $95).

Christmas Gift Idea
I'm not one of those parents who refuses to let their kids play with brightly colored plastic toys that make noise. I could live without the noise, but I know that the world isn't going to end if a toy isn't wooden and educational. But I still don't understand why Hasbro's Transformer's Revenge of the Fallen Construction Devastator is so popular. Sure it's a huge Transformer made up of six smaller Transformers, but those Transformers don't have individual robot modes. And you know that it's going to be hard for the average kid to put together. It also costs like $100.
But did my kid ask for it? Yes. And did I buy it? Yes. And it wasn't easy to find. But I found it at the second Target I went to, it was sold out online. And it only was $80. Do I feel like I paid too much? Of course. I think that Hasbro should have marketed this thing more toward fanboy collectors and not to children, who are usually broke due to the fact that they are just children after all.
I will write a review after the wee tyrant plays with on Christmas morning.

Christmas Gift Idea
If you haven't been completely turned off of Louboutins by Jennifer Lopez, you may find the Barbie by Christian Louboutin to be the perfect collectible gift. Christian dressed Barbie up as a cat burglar in a black catsuit. I'm so so about the Barbie, but am gaga over the accessories. Barbie comes with four pairs of red soled Christian Louboutins complete with tiny shoe boxes and storage bags. $150

I think these fabric calendars are wonderful. And I really like the idea that you can embroider around special days. And a cute calendar is the perfect gift, everybody needs a new calendar. It's not like you can use a 2009 calendar again.

Beatrix Potter Emporium

I received the following request:
Hello,
I would like to buy a gift from the work of Beatrix Potter for my little niece.
I live in Paris and I'm looking for a shop which sells these items (object, not books).
Could you please give me some adresses?
Best regardsJérôme
The best place to start is probably the Beatrix Potter Emporium. They have a ton of gift ideas and they ship worldwide. I suggest the Miniature Coffee Set.

Extravagant Father's Day Gifts

This isn't the recliner that our dads had in the sixties and seventies. Restoration Hardware's Buster Recliner is made of soft Italian leather. And it isn't something that needs to be hidden down in the basement. $2625

Mothers Day Gift Ideas

This is a much cooler version of the classic silhouette charm. You know the one that every mom had hanging from her bracelet when we were children. You send a side view photo and Love & Victory creates a custom silhouette. It may be too late for Mother's Day delivery, but I bet she would be gaga over a card telling her that you have ordered one. The pendant is available in gold or silver and is priced from $128- $328, engraving is $5 a letter.

The Ipevo Kaleido R7 is one of the best looking digital frames that I have seen. The WiFi enabled screen rotates for both horizontal and vertical viewing. There is 512MB of internal memory (up to 3000 images), an USB port for thumb drives, and a card reader. Content can also be streamed from a networked computer. And since it is WiFi enabled you can link to your RSS feed, Picassa, and Flickr. $199.99

Tooth Fairy Bag

Notion Farm has come up with an uber-cool tooth fairy set. The set comes with an official letterpress certificate from the Office of the Tooth Fairy and a reusable silkscreened bag. The certificate records the child's name, age, which tooth was lost and how it was lost, and how much the Tooth Fairy left the child.
Talk about bringing magic into a child's life. $16
Notion Farm just needs to offer refills for the certificates.

I Wish Santa Would Bring Me This

I'm currently lusting after the Ultimate Coffee Cup by Lux-Delux. The ergonomic cup is made of translucent porcelain, and costs $20. But I'd even settle for a cup with a small flaw, those are just $14.50. But of course I never get what I want for Christmas.

I Was Completely Wrong About Plain Mary

The Plain Mary Kensington Playmat is worth the $190. They were kind enough to send a sample (Which I will be returning, so it has nothing to do with my review. If I think something is horrible, I'm going to say so.) I asked the one person who would know about blanket quality, my 90 year old grandmother. She comes from a time when most products were made with care and to last, and she quilts.

My first question to her was, "Does this look like a nice blanket?" She put it on her lap, turned it over and looked close. She examined the seams and embroidery. She spent about 5 minutes looking at the work that went into the play mat before she told me that it looked like it would last a long time.
Then I asked her, "Would you spend $190 for it?" I also had to explain that it was a baby blanket for the floor. She said she wouldn't buy it for a baby, but it was totally worth $190. If she had the extra $190 (Which is her way of hinting that she wants me to buy it for her.) she would buy one for herself. It seems besides being a good playmat, it is also a good lap throw.
Then she started making puppy dog eyes at me. It seems that I am now expected to buy one for her. Too bad I already have bought her Christmas gift, but Valentine's Day is coming.
So after showing the blanket to my grandmother I went around asking my neighbors with babies what they thought. If you stand in my front yard for ten minutes a baby appears. They all loved it.
My advice is to buy one if you can afford it, but embroider your last name on it. That way it can be used for multiple children and then draped over a chair or sofa.
Plain Mary is also expanding the embroidery options to include teddy bears, name and date, and zodiac signs. And here is the rest of it.
