Halloween

Every year Halloween gets a little more disappointing, and the reason why is because of the lack of trick or treaters. We have about ten pounds of candy left over. And this is after that I had my son's teacher announce that we would be giving out the good stuff, chocolates and Willy Wonka candy. One kid from his class showed up, and I gave him a whole handful of candy. We would have to wait ten minutes or more in between groups of trick or treaters. It makes me sad.

We also did the Day of the Dead. I hauled Grandpa out of the corner that Grandma keeps him. He has an alter with mini pumpkins (I hate marigolds) , beer, Beer Nuts (he used to bring them to me and my brother when we were little), and candles.

Grandma and I put Grandpa in the new urn ourselves after his old one sprang a leak. I refused to pay the funeral home to move him when it was their fault he was leaking out in the first place. When they nailed the cover on his wood urn, they nailed right through the plastic bag holding him. And then the nails started loosening and out he came. Did you know that they stick you into flimsy little bags after they cremate you? We put him in a couple of Ziploc bags and he hasn't leaked since. I bet that's a recommendation Ziploc thought they would never get.

Little Red Riding Hood

I can't wait until I have a daughter. This Sarah Waldo cape is called Lily, but it brings to mind a certain little girl on the way to Grandmother's house. It is 100% merino wool and lined with silk satin.

Does Larry Birkhead Really Need A Reality Show

Larry Birkhead is continuing his campaign to whore out his daughter with Anna Nicole Smith, Dannilynn. The father and daughter will be featured on a reality show on E!, along with his 18 year old nephew, Justin.

He was undecided on whether or not to do the show. So he turned to Tori Spelling (because she's such an expert on whoring her kids out), who told him, "Dean and I will support you. Why not? Your life is out there anyway."

His life is out there because he keeps putting it out there. You think all he would want to do is protect Dannilynn from the media after he saw what such a public life did to her mother.

Caylee Anthony Update 3 November

The Florida Bar Association will investigate attorney Jose Baez to determine if jailhouse hugs with Casey Anthony are violations of its ethical standards. (I doubt that this would be much of an issue if it weren't for those daily six hour visits to his office when Casey was out on bail. Everybody wondered what they could be doing for all that time. Someone actually posted a comment about it last week. She was probably just hanging out watching tv and using the computer, which she wasn't supposed to be doing. But it is coming back to bite him in the butt.)
Eyewitness News broke the story of the displays of affection between Baez and Anthony at the Orange County jail where Casey is awaiting trial on charges she murdered her daughter, Caylee.

Casey and Baez have been seen on numerous occasions hugging each other, holding hands or sitting extremely close (I can understand a hug hello or goodbye, but holding hands. WTF! They are supposed to be discussing her case, not dating). Law enforcement sources said while at the jail, Baez would sit extremely close to Casey. During one visit an officer had to separate the two and warn him about what was called inappropriate behavior.

The jail would only say Baez had violated rules for hugging Casey on two occasions. In an internal email, a corrections officer wrote, “I spoke with Mr. Baez concerning his continued physical contact (hugging) of his client."

A jail spokesman said, "We do not allow contact for security reasons.”

The first time Baez was warned, officials said he told officers he did not know the rules, and was sorry and would make an effort to remember. (He had to be warned more than once. And is this the first time he has ever been to visit a client at the jail.)

The jail email said, “Mr. Baez stated he was upset as he hugs all his clients. He went on to say he would hate for a brief to be filed in order to correct this." (I can understand the jail letting it slide once, but maybe they should have filed the brief the second time because he didn't learn his lesson after the first warning.)

Jail officials said at one time, there was video of the meetings between Baez and Anthony but that video had been recorded over.

The complaint with the Florida Bar was filed by a woman from Indiana who had read about the incident online and felt Baez overstepped his boundaries. The Bar said it would investigate the complaint even though the woman had no involvement in the case. (The Florida Bar should tell her to mind her business. The jail didn't feel the need to file a complaint. This could set a precedent for other cases, and they will have people not involved in cases complaining about lawyer misconduct in all high profile cases. It's going to be a pain.) Baez could have his license revoked if the Bar deems the conduct inappropriate but license forfeiture would be extreme in a case such as this. (I think that Jose Baez probably doesn't hug and hold hands with all of his clients. He is probably falling for Casey, the latest victim to be sucked in by her.)

We Connect Tees

Most t-shirts for twins are pretty lame, they usually say something pretty unoriginal. The We Connect Tees by Baby's Language aren't the usual twin tees, they feature cute illustrations of a plug and an outlet. The organic shirts also come in several colors, $36.

Murder Gun May Have Belonged To Jason Hudson

Forensic testing determined that the chrome-and-black .45-caliber pistol recovered by Chicago police was the weapon used to kill Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew, a law-enforcement source said Friday.

The gun, discovered Wednesday a block from where 7-year-old Julian King's body was found, was being tested in the hope of finding evidence that would tie the killings to a suspect, police said.

Police also are investigating whether the weapon had once belonged to Hudson's slain brother, Jason. He allegedly owned an identical gun that he thought was stolen from the family's Englewood home a few months ago, according to law-enforcement sources and several neighbors. (I wonder if it was around the time William Balfour left the home. That would be more circumstantial evidence that Balfour committed the crime. Every little bit of evidence helps when it comes time for a trial.)

The .45-caliber Sig Sauer semiautomatic pistol was recovered in the bushes of a vacant lot on the West Side, a block from where the nephew's body was found Monday in an SUV.

Police immediately suspected it was the gun used in the killings because the unfired bullets matched the make and model of shell casings found at the Hudson family home, where the two other victims were slain, sources said.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia, remains in custody after being questioned in the case, but he has not been charged in the slayings. (They have him in custody and he can't bail himself out, so they don't need to rush to charge him. They have the luxury of taking their time and investigating the case.)

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had traced the recovered gun to its original owner in Michigan, who reported it stolen, sources said. (How did Justin Hudson end up with a stolen gun?)

While police have investigated the slayings as possible domestic violence, they have not ruled out other motives.

Jason Hudson was shot in the leg several months ago in Gary but refused to seek medical attention, friends and family members said. (I can't imagine being shot and not going to hospital. I would be too worried about pain and infection, but mainly about the pain.) The wound limited his mobility and forced him to use a cane to walk.

"He had a troubled path," said his second cousin Joe Buckner. "He was trying to get his life figured out."
