Clothes For Skinny Kids

It is relatively easy to find clothes for "husky" kids (Probably due to the fact that kids are getting heavier right along with the rest of the American population.), but really hard to find pants that will fit a skinny kid. My youngest son is Rachel Zoe skinny and pants either fit in the waist and are to short, or they are long enough and he's swimming in them. My go to source for pants that actually fit him is the Gap. He practically lives in the Flat Front Khakis. And he can actually wear a size 10 instead of a 7 is so short that he looks like he is waiting for a flood.

Boys Raincoats

It's finally raining here in Northern California (And the way the way wind is blowing I am expecting more trees in my neighborhood to fall.). So I dug my son's raincoat out of the back of the closet, only to find that this is the last season he probably will be able to wear it. I've gotten my money's worth, I bought it for my oldest over a dozen years ago...for less than $15. So now I've started looking for a new raincoat. I want something traditional and yellow, not so easy to find these days. Here is what I've come up with:

Petit Bateau Yellow Raincoat, £50.
The price seems very expensive, but if I get a size 12 he should be able to wear it for at least three or four years. He's barely growing.

Elka Rain Set, £28.
Pants and a jacket, for half the price.

Rain Set, £29.50.
The biggest size is an 8, so he would only be able to wear it for a season or two.

Pajama Day

Yesterday was pajama day at my son's school. He doesn't sleep in pjs, so I had to buy a pair the day before. I chose a pair that were kind of Halloweenish but not too much.

I just have to say if you can wear big horizontal stripes still look that thin you may need to gain some more weight. And this is after the summer's big 20 pound weight gain.

Update: The pajamas came from Target.

Henry Samuel

Somebody needs to tell Heidi Klum and Seal that the need to give little Henry a bit of a trim and buy some kind of product to put in his hair. It always looks tangled. Maybe he always looks cranky because he's tender headed and sick of them yanking through it as they comb it. Just saying.

If you have a little boy and live in warm climate, Polo Ralph Lauren is having a sale on shorts. I bought a couple of pairs for the wee tyrant because the prices were comparable to those of Target, and it's too hot to wear pants to school. Or stock up for next summer. Back To School

My boys went back to school yesterday. And I can't wait until the end of the school year. I have two kids in two different school. I drop off the oldest, then drive home and walk the youngest to school. Then in the afternoon I do it all over again. It's chaos. And I have to avoid the Booster Club Moms because I'm not joining that cult again.
I much rather deal with the noise they make (and they may be the loudest children in existence), than deal with the traffic at the high school. Teenagers aren't the worlds greatest drivers.
This is my youngest son's back to school outfit. He's chosen those light up Transformer's shoes three times in a row. For a pair of cheap shoes ($17.99) they hold up really well. The lights still work on all three pairs, and he's never actually worn out a pair. I hate that he loves them so much, but I don't have to wear them. They can be purchased at Target.
There isn't a picture of my oldest because he doesn't let me take pictures. I have to stalk him like I'm the paparazzi.

Summertime is bike time. And the G-Bike will have your tot scooting off after the big kids in no time. (I hope your kid isn't like mine. He went pedaling off after the fifteen year old across the street. And I had to run after him as he turned the corner.) Designed for two to four year olds to teach them balance, it is lightweight (just 3.85 pounds) aluminum. The company says that the clear wheels will not stain interior floors, but do they not have children. One trip outside and those lovely wheels will be stained with oil and dirt. But it is one of the most attractive push bikes I have seen, and I do so love shiny gadgets. $139.90

This may be the ultimate summer toy, a big wheel that shoots pressurized water over twenty feet. Just think of all the fun the kiddies could have. The Green Machine H2O costs $100 at Amazon. Long live gaudy plastic toys.

Bath Time

Why do little boys hate to bathe so much? My son has a technique to avoid ever actually taking a bath. He goes to sleep before time to take a bath, but always at a different time. I moved up the time, he started going to sleep earlier. I would watch him like a hawk, he would fall asleep during the few minutes I wasn't watching him. He can actually take off his clothes, climb in bed, and fall asleep in little as two minutes. And if you wake him up, he can't fall back to sleep. I have to change the time every day.
