Sadly, we have gotten used to the fathers on 16 and Pregnant being selfish jerks, but I have to say that Adam is actually abusive. Sure it's not physical abuse but it is still abuse. The things he says to Chelsea are his way of controlling her. He called his daughter a mistake and said he wanted to sign away his rights to her. Leaving him may not be easy for Chelsea, but that is what she needs to do. She doesn't want her baby girl growing up to think that is how she should be treated. Chelsea knows what a man should be like, her dad is a stand up guy. And she should want that for her daughter.

Pregnancy Pact
Lifetime Television is selling the movie "ThePregnancy Pact" as inspired by a true story. I just wonder if they will be portraying the part of the story where the whole "pregnancy pact" was shown to be false.
In case you don't remember the media coverage of the original story I will try to sum it up. During the 2007-2008 school year Gloucester High School in Massachusetts had a baby boom. The girls were turning up left and right to take pregnancy tests at the nurses office. Some of them were even disappointed by negative tests. Well, the principal, Joseph Sullivan, went to the press and said that the girls had made a pact to all get pregnant together. What he didn't say is that a lot of girls didn't have access to birth control, and that the end of the sex ed class they were encouraged to use the school daycare. What kind of message does that send to young girls. Many of the girls were also socially isolated and lacked a meaningful relationship with their families. The nearest women's clinic was more than 20 miles away. Which is a huge distance when you are 14 and without a car. The school nurse and medical director tried to get the school to prescribe birth control without parental consent, but they were driven from their jobs. The school couldn't even commit to teach the federally approved and funded abstinence only curriculum. A group of teenagers who don't have birth control and whose parents aren't passing on their values are exactly the group of teenagers you expect to have a baby boom.
I think that Lifetime has seen the success of the MTV shows "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Moms" and is trying to jump on the ratings train by scaring the crap out of parents. We need to decide our position on birth control as parents and then lovingly drill that position into our children's heads. That's how teen pregnancy is prevented.
Here is a link to the original Time Magazine coverage that started the whole firestorm. And the movie will be shown on Lifetime, Saturday at 9pm and with encores at the same time on Sunday and Monday.

Teen Moms
Maybe the problem for Farrah from MTV's Teen Mom isn't that she has a "kid", but that the guys see that she would rather hang out with them and her friends than her baby. Yes, she is still a teenager but Sophia is just a baby, and babies need their parents. Would you want to commit to someone who couldn't even commit to their own child?
And if her parents disapprove of her going out so much, why don't they just say no. She would quickly learn to stay at home if she had to pay a babysitter every time she went out. They are making it a wee bit too easy on her. And how does she thank them, by being rude and telling them how much she hates them. I would have tried that crap once, and my mother and grandmother would have never babysat again.

Tonight's Teen Mom Preview
MTV has a bit of a double standard. They wouldn't show Snooki from Jersey Shore getting hit (Even though everybody had already seen it.), but we get to watch Amber slap Gary up side his head.
Amber is ten times more mature than Gary, and he she has every right to be upset with him. But if MTV showed him hitting Amber everyone would be screaming about domestic violence. Gary needs to clean up his act or Amber will grow tired of his butt and leave. But Amber shouldn't be hitting him especially in front of their daughter.
And another thing I have wondered about. Why are these girls' parents so accepting of them having sex with guys 4 or 5 years older than their daughters? If your 15 year-old is dating a twenty year old don't be surprised if she turns up pregnant.

Farrah From MTVs Teen Mom
Sometimes it is easy to forget that MTV covers serious subjects, especially since they are also currently promoting Shore House. But the show Teen Moms is exactly that, a hip look at a serious subject. After years of declines the teen birth rate is once again on the rise. (I wonder if it has to do with the downturn in the economy. Does it have anything to do with less funding for teen pregnancy prevention programs.) I was able to interview Farrah. She came across as a smart, well spoken girl. Which shows you that teen pregnancy can happen to anyone. She was a nice cheerleader from a good Christian family with two parents. If it can happen to her, it can happen to anyone.
How are you managing to balancing parenthood and being a teenager?
For me, I think I am balancing being a teenager and a mother great. And I am glad that you asked that because that's a big topic.
How is your relationship with your mother? Do you find that she is more overprotective since Sophia's birth?
I think my mom is more wanting to help since Sophia's birth. She's not as overprotective in the way of like, everyday life. But with the whole dating thing, yeah, she got a little out of control.
Farrah's mom deserves a show all her own. But saying that she got a little out of control is one of life's great understatements. She is involved in a way that you don't see the other mother's involved. Maybe it's because Farrah is still at home. But you know that she will do her best to make sure that her granddaughter's needs are put first.
How is the dating going?
I would say it's on a downhill.
I've been there.
Yes, I think every woman's been there. And being a mom doesn't make it easier.
The boy, Cole that she is dating on the show a hottie. He has movie star good looks. Have a look at the clip below.
What were you thinking when your mother told Cole, "We would love you to go to heaven with all of us"?
What was I thinking? Oh my, I was thinking...I don't know. I don't even know what I was thinking at that moment. What would your mom say? Like, you know, if you were there and your mom said that to a guy you were dating or possibly or getting married to.
This may be one of the most entertaining moments I saw on television all year. It's kind of like closing the barn door after all the horses are out, but funny. Of course, if it were happening to me I would die of shame.
I think I would die of embarrassment.
That's what I was.
The look on your face, it was just a look of shock.
It was, because I was in very big shock. And I had to talk to Cole about God and everything. Oh my. I still wonder what is going through his mind, you know.
Has Sophia's father tried to be involved?
Um, that's not something I am going to comment on.
I wouldn't have asked this question if I had read the rumors first. It seems that Sophia's rumored father died in an car accident before her birth.
What was your experience on the show?
I would like to just say that I had a great experience. And I hope everyone likes the show because I know everyone is excited. And I hope they learn from me.
So you haven't had people acting negatively to you since the show?
You know everyone has there own opinion. But for the most part, you know, I've been hearing positive things, and you know...educating things. So it's been great.
I found your episode of the show to be more realistic than some of the others.
Well, thank you. I hope... It is real. So I hope people really take that into account and learn from it so that they don't make wrong choices for their own lives.
What would you do if Sophia came to you at sixteen and told you she was pregnant?
I would say, "Did you not learn anything from me?"
You can find Farrah's Twitter Page here. I'm not positive it is the real one, but I will contact the show's publicist to find out. And watch the show. Everyone I showed the first episode to loved it. And I didn't just show it to teenagers. I showed it to my mother and grandmother. I showed it to my sons, 16 and 10. Anything to make sure they don't get some girl pregnant. It's not a preachy program at all, but it isn't making teen motherhood look glamorous either. Watch Tuesday at 9PM on MTV.

Disney's Prep & Landing
I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to watch television. I saw the following commercial for Disney's Prep& Landing. It's a modern take on what the elves do to prep for Santa's trip. They are there guiding Santa onto roofs, taking care of horrid dogs, and checking the weather. It's very modern, but reminds me of the Christmas specials I watched as a child. I'm really excited to watch it with the wee tyrant. It airs on ABC, 8 December at 8:30pm.

WeTV Platinum Babies
WeTV's new show, Platinum Babies is a peak inside the reproductive style of the rich and d-list. Think Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous for the tot set. You get to see fancy nurseries and extravagant baby showers. I don't know why people go on these shows, it just exposes you to the scorn of the friends and relations. And we all know from show like the Real Housewives that most of the people are just barely floating on a sea of debt. The show airs of Friday at 9/8C.

16 & Pregnant Getting More Realistic
MTV's 16&Pregnant is getting more realistic. The first two episodes seemed to glorify teen pregnancy a wee bit too much. Most girls don't have boyfriends that can afford to rent them their own apartments. For a lot of girls it is an uphill struggle. Can't wait to see the update special to see what has happened to the girls since they were on the show.

Tiny & Toya
BET has their own version of the Real Housewives, except Tiny (Tameka Cottle) and Toya (Toya Johnson-Carter) are attached to two of the biggest names in hip hop. Tiny is a former member of the 90s girl group Xscape, and the fiancee of rapper TI (Currently in prison on gun charges). They also have several children. And Toya is Lil Wayne's ex-wife.
These women also have real problems. TI is in prison, and her father is suffering from Alzheimer. And we will get to see Toya struggling to help her mother, who has a drug problem, get off the streets and clean. These women are the real thing, not the fakers of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Tiny & Toya airs on BET at 9pm on Tuesdays.

16 and Pregnant
I am worried that MTV's new show 16 and Pregnant will glorify teen pregnancy. I am quite sure that the hour long series will show how hard it really is to be young and pregnant. But I think that some idiot little girl will see the show and think, "Wow, look at all the attention that those girls are getting." Of course as the mother of a teenage boy, I have a low opinion of teenage girls.
Update: Five minutes into the show and they have shown a group of teenage girls cooing over little baby clothes, and the baby's room. Just what I expected. And Maci, save that graduation money for when you tire of Ryan's lazy, immature butt and leave him.

Real Housewives of New Jersey 9 June
Did you see last night when Danielle's daughter outed her as a slut. She wasn't lying when she said that guys only wanted her mother for her "goodies."

Dina's Wedding
The Real Housewives of New Jersey isn't the Manzo Family's first reality television appearance. Dina and Tommy's wedding was featured on VH-1's My Big Fat Fabulous Weddings. The wedding cost around $1 million and of course the reception took place at the Brownstone. We get to meet Dina's elusive husband, who was a bit of a cheat, but a rather charming one. And he worked his butt off. And Dina and Caroline seem a lot like they are on the Housewives, just less made up. Enjoy the video.
The rest of the program is below. And if you just have to have Dina's Badgley Mischka wedding gown there is one on Ebay for $1950, much better than $10,000.

Caroline Of Real Housewives Of New Jersey Defends Outing Danielle
Caroline Manzo of the Real Housewives of New Jersey explains how she found out about the Cop Without A Badge book. Cop Without A Badge brings to light Danielle Staubs secret life. Staub was arrested for kidnapping and extortion, and it looks like she may have been a coked up stripper instead of a Ford Model.
Let’s talk about this book. You mentioned your niece found it. What’s the backstory?
This is something that literally fell into our laps. We had no reason to believe that Danielle was somebody other than [who] she represented herself to be. And my niece did tell us about it. When something this explosive falls into your lap, for anyone to just dismiss it would be foolish. It’s beyond catty gossip. There are a lot of facets to this story that can affect us in a negative way.
What do you mean by that? Were you concerned with your reputation if you associated with her?
I don’t care about reputation. What happened in the past is her business. I certainly don’t judge anybody. It was a safety concern. Nothing more.
You mean you don’t trust Danielle around young children?
Who would? Come on, let’s think about it: Would you put your child in a situation like that? Until we know the truth, you have to just act reasonably.
Did you tell Jacqueline flat-out to end her friendship with Danielle?
It seems to be the image that we don’t allow her to [know] outsiders and other friends. That’s so not true. However, Jacqueline looks at the world through rose-colored glasses. Something like this, you have to look at the situation and say, “I understand you want to give this person the benefit of the doubt, and I commend you for that. However, please, please look at this with your eyes wide open.” And that’s just what we did.
As a mother, what are your thoughts about Danielle putting herself on a reality show knowing that her daughters will have to face this?
That’s Danielle’s issue. I’m not going to tell anybody else how to parent. We certainly have vast differences in our parenting decisions. I just hope that [her] children can get past this because they’re the ones who suffer.
Caroline doesn't really have room to talk, her family and that of her husband were involved with the mob. For heaven's sake her father-in-law was assinated and stuffed into a trunk. They may have moved on but so has Danielle. She got herself a new name and a fancy husband and tried to reinvent herself with little success. But I guess the husband learned that you can't turn a ho into a housewife, and probably left her for a younger woman.

Jon Gosselin Claims That His Children Aren't Exploited
Jon Gosselin is trying to claim that his children are not exploited. When asked by People magazine if they were exploited he replied, "Exploited?," asks Jon. "I don't even want to use that word, because I think it's ridiculous," he says heatedly. Jon insists his children's happiness will remain his focus – even if keeping them happy means quitting the show.
He isn't quitting the show anytime soon, TLC has just signed them up for a 40 episode season at $50-75,000 an episode. If that isn't exploitation what is. The Gosselin's wouldn't have that show if it weren't for his kids. Without the children Jon and Kate aren't interesting.
But maybe TLC inked the deal a wee bit too soon. The show had half as many viewers for the second episode than it did for the season premiere.

Kate Gosselin To Publish Cookbook (Ha!) and Where Was Jon Memorial Day

Looking more and more like a divorced couple, Jon and Kate spent Memorial Day Apart. Jon spent the day in Newburgh, New York buying dinner for two other women. And Kate spent the day with children, nannies, and bodyguards in North Carolina. Jon just wants to act like that douche bag married guy with kids who just wants to be single.
And Kate will be releasing a cookbook on 13 October, Love Is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories, $19.79. A cookbook from a woman who has a chef, and if you read the closing credits there is catering on days they film. And they film most days.
But it gets even funnier. The back cover states, "Fans ... won’t want to miss this inside look at one of America’s most famous close-knit families." Close knit my behind. Jon is making his great break for freedom, and I bet Mady will be next. Just wait until she finds out about emancipation.
In addition to offering nutritious recipes and tips on eating organically, Love Is in the Mix promises to teach readers "how to craft family traditions that create happy memories" and "how to feed a large family on a budget." The book will include family photos and anecdotes about her twins and sextuplets.
According to the site, Kate will also offer insight into handling picky eaters, making lunchtime fun, planning meals for vacations, and making ordinary days "extra special."
Dinnertime at the Gosselin mansion never looks particularly happy. It is usually just the kids snacking on grapes and raw veggies slapped quickly on paper plates. Yeah, she cares about the environment and organic crap so much that she uses dozens of paper plates every day. And the kiddies are going to have such happy memories of mommy yelling at daddy constantly.

Real Housewives New Jersey Mugshot

Here is the mugshot that Danielle from Real Housewives of New Jersey didn't want seen. Seems she was going by the name of Beverly Merrill. And she wasn't a Ford Model, she was a cokehead stripper. And not even in a classy New York tittie (oops, I meant bubbie) bar, but out in Jersey. She was arrested for extortion, kidnapping, and drug possession.

The Gosselins Meet American Chopper

Despite the fact that her marriage is falling apart all around her, Kate Gosselin loves a freebie and is willing to pretend that nothing is wrong to get one. The fellows from American Chopper gave Kate a lovely pink scooter. The kids can really use that. You know how she is all about her children. She and the long suffering slacker, Jon also took a ride on the motorcycles, then they paraded the children out so that they could use the footage on the show and earn the freebies.
Plus 9.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Gosselin's marriage woes on the Season 5 premiere of Jon & Kate plus 8.
